The material decisions you make determine how your kitchen performs and looks over the next 20 years. KITWOOD has been specifying, testing, and manufacturing with kitchen materials in Lebanon since 1981. This is our honest, practical guide.

The carcass is the structural core of your kitchen — the box that every door, drawer, and worktop attaches to. It is the least visible part of your kitchen and the most consequential. In Lebanon's climate, a poorly specified carcass is the leading cause of kitchen failure within 5–10 years.
STANDARD PARTICLEBOARD (chipboard): The lowest-cost option. Standard particleboard absorbs moisture, swells, and loses structural integrity — particularly in Beirut's coastal humidity and in any kitchen adjacent to a sink or dishwasher. We do not use standard particleboard in KITWOOD kitchens.
MOISTURE-RESISTANT HDF (18mm): High-density fibreboard with a moisture-resistant core. The correct specification for Lebanese kitchens — denser than MDF, dimensionally stable in humidity, and the standard we use across our entire range.
MARINE-GRADE PLYWOOD: Used in our premium carcasses for maximum structural strength. Plywood offers superior screw-holding, no swelling in moisture, and exceptional long-term durability. Specified in our higher-value collections and for areas of high moisture exposure.
Our recommendation: Never accept a standard particleboard carcass in a Lebanese kitchen. In Beirut's humidity, it is a false economy regardless of how attractive the doors look.
